Hello everyone !!!
In this blog ,I am going to share my views on artice titled "How A Culture Of
Innovation On Campus Can Solve The College Graduation Gap".
Basically in this article people are questioned about the necessity of college degree and how some people are devoid of it. It is also mentioned that how state legislatures to balance the budget are increasing tuition fees .Further it is described how some organizations like UIA (University Innovation Alliance) is working to fill this pit and how unprivileged class can be benefited and given right to college education.
It is really depressing that economically strong white and Asian high students earn a bachelor’s degree. On the other hand only 13% of black and Hispanic students are able to earn this degree which ultimately leads to problems like economic inequality, skills gaps, low and stagnant wages, and more.To eliminate this ,11 universities joined their hands by keeping their competition side thinking for pockets of innovations in every corner. It was a good initiative to accelerate the growth of innovation among each and everyone that could raise graduation rates and eliminate graduation gaps. Sharing what they have learned ,two universities Georgia State University and the University of California, Riverside tried to eliminate barriers that prevent students from graduating.
Because of these appreciable work by UIA,other universities also got motivated which could be a turning point for the betterment of college education. The first goal of UIA was to graduate an additional 68,000 students over the next 10 years.Second goal was to give fair and equal right to everyone.Third to set a direct line to the university CEO at each campus.Last but not the least ,their fourth goal was really appreciable which welcomed other universities as well to share their ideas ,experiences which dramatically improved student success throughout higher education.
The first success of UIA was recognized in publications like The Washington Monthly. However, only these 11 universities are not enough to narrow the graduation gap. Masked potential across other universities and colleges should also be unmasked to help students from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds graduate at much higher rates. With the cooperation of as much people as possible college degree will be valued.
Tina Gridiron, William F. L. Moses, Art Seavey director of different foundation worked really hard for underrepresented students.Initiative by UNA is really commendable and it should be supported on a large pace.
